Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 August 2026
1. These terms, and agreeing to them
Inctra is a personal-finance tracking service operated from New Zealand and available at inctra.co.nz and through our mobile app (together, “Inctra”, the “service”, “we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us.
By creating an account or using Inctra you accept these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service — we'd rather you didn't sign up than signed up unhappily.
2. What Inctra is
Inctra is a weekly money practice: you record (or import) your income and expenses each week, and Inctra turns that into running totals, category breakdowns, net-worth tracking (assets, loans, credit cards), targets, goals and habits, and year-on-year insights.
A part of the service is powered by artificial intelligence. When you upload a bank statement (CSV, spreadsheet, PDF, or screenshot), the transactions in it are extracted and categorised with the help of a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic), and our “Ask AI” feature sends a summary of your financial data to the same provider to answer your questions. AI output can be wrong: it may misread a transaction, miscategorise a merchant, or make an arithmetic slip. You review imports before they are saved, and you are responsible for checking that what Inctra shows matches reality. More detail on the data side of this is in our Privacy Policy.
3. Who can use Inctra
You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. If you use Inctra on behalf of someone else (for example, managing a family member's budget with their blessing), you're responsible for having their permission.
4. Your account
Accounts are created and signed in through Clerk, our authentication provider. You can use an email and password or a supported social login.
Keep your credentials to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, so tell us at support@inctra.co.nz straight away if you think someone else has access. We recommend a strong, unique password — this account can see your financial life.
5. Trial, subscription and billing
- Free trial. New accounts get a 30-day free trial with full access. No credit card is needed to start it.
- Subscription. After the trial, continued access costs $9 NZD per month (inclusive of GST where it applies), billed monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card number.
- Cancelling. You can cancel any time through the billing portal in Settings. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds. Because the trial gives you a full month to decide, we generally don't refund a billing month once it has started. That position never overrides rights you have under New Zealand consumer law — if the law entitles you to a remedy, you get it. If something has gone wrong, email us; we're human about it.
- Price changes. If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before it does.
6. Acceptable use
Inctra is for tracking your own (or your household's) finances. You agree not to:
- use the service for anything unlawful, or upload content you don't have the right to upload;
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the service, or access it by any automated means other than the interfaces we provide;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or probe the service for vulnerabilities, or attempt to access other users' data;
- resell, sublicense, or provide the service to others as if it were your own;
- interfere with the service's operation, including attempting to overload it or abuse the AI features (for example, using Ask AI as a general-purpose AI service unrelated to your finances).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.
7. Your data, and the licence you give us
Your financial data is yours. You keep all rights to the information you enter and the statements you upload.
So that Inctra can function, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, back up, and display your submitted data — solely to provide and improve the service to you. That includes sending statement contents and data summaries to our AI provider for extraction and analysis, as described in section 2.
We never sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers who host and power Inctra (listed in the Privacy Policy). You can export your data at any time from the Bulk import/export page.
8. Inctra is not financial advice
Inctra — including its charts, targets, forecasts, and anything the Ask AI feature says — is a record-keeping and visualisation tool. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and we are not a licensed financial advice provider. AI answers are general information generated from the numbers you gave us, and they can be wrong. Before making decisions that matter — mortgages, investments, tax positions — check the numbers yourself and consider talking to a licensed professional.
9. Availability
We work to keep Inctra fast and available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service depends on third-party infrastructure (hosting, database, authentication, payments, AI), and any of it — or we — may occasionally be down for maintenance or through faults. Keep your own copies of source documents such as bank statements; Inctra is not a substitute for your bank's records.
10. Warranties and liability
Inctra is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent the law allows, we exclude warranties we're able to exclude, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (including lost profits, lost savings opportunities, or decisions made in reliance on the service). Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Your consumer rights survive this section. If you acquire Inctra for personal use, the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 gives you guarantees that cannot be excluded, and nothing in these terms attempts to take those away. If you use Inctra for business purposes, you agree the CGA does not apply to that use.
11. Your responsibility to us
If your breach of these terms, or your unlawful use of the service, causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to cover the losses and reasonable costs we incur as a result. This doesn't apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.
12. Ending things
- You can leave any time. Cancel your subscription in Settings, and delete your account from the account deletion page (or by emailing us). Export your data first if you want to keep it.
- What happens to your data. When your account is deleted, your financial data is removed from our production systems and purged from backups in the following backup cycle, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- We can end it too. We may suspend or terminate your account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms. If we ever discontinue Inctra entirely, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Inctra evolves. For material changes we'll notify you — by email or a notice in the app — at least 14 days before they take effect, and the “last updated” date above will always tell you when the terms last changed. Continuing to use Inctra after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms; if you don't accept them, cancel and close your account before they apply.
14. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes about them. Questions, problems, complaints: support@inctra.co.nz.
